A Study on the Need of Home Nursing care for Hypertension


Abstract
This study has been conducted from 12 March to 31 March 1990 with the subjects selected from the outpatients of the two general hospitals under the guidance of the faculty adviser with the questionnaires prepared by the researcher for home care of their ailment and physical symptoms and the degree of self care the resultant findings are enumerated below.

1. In the home care items, there were more female subjects 46.5 ro than the male subjects 36.8To To. Of the home care items, the diet control took up 90.5 ¢¥lo, the necessity ofhaving regular exercises 85.9%, and daily living avoiding tension or stress 85.917o, all indicating very high rates.

Among the home care precautions, the male subjects wanted to know more about the cause of the hypertension and its effect on the physical condition, 43.4%, while the female patients wanted to know further the importance of¢¥diet control and kinds of food to be avoided(51.3 % ) and the sort and method of exercises which could help alleviate the hpertension 51.9%, and personal hygiene 51.3 To.
In the case of the family of 3-5 members, the requirement for home nursing care indicated the high rate of 50.7 To.
2. In the degree of home nursing care requirement, the self-care dependent upon the specialist indicated the high rate of 3.68 while the self performing care showed the low rate of 3.0.3.
3. Among the physical symptoms that the subjects appealed, the cardiovascular symptoms indicated the ¢¥highest rate of 57.907o followed by the neuromuscular symptoms with 50.3% and the pulmorespiratory symptoms with 22.9%.
